Aneel Approves R$ 5.5 Billion to Lower Electricity Bills
In a significant move to ease the financial burden on consumers, Brazil’s National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has approved the allocation of up to R$ 5.5 billion aimed at reducing electricity tariffs. This measure is expected to bring an average discount of 4.51% on electricity bills. The funds will be utilized to renegotiate the balance of the Public Use Asset (UBP), which is a critical component in managing the costs associated with electricity distribution. This decision underscores the agency’s commitment to making energy more affordable for Brazilians amid ongoing economic challenges.
